NYX "Ritualistic" Illuminator

The thought of leaving my place without highlighting and contouring is just senseless. I am a complete sucker for cosmetics under $10. Especially if it is well known brand at a drugstore price and I have the cash to fork it out right then and there, I will buy it. This NYX Cosmetics illuminator is gorgeous. From first glance it looks pretty damn white but once you swatch it there is a gold-ish undertone that looks beautiful on any skin tone. And guess what? Well you already know that it is only $10 but it's almost up there with MAC mineralized skin finish bronzers. The formula is very similar to Bobbi Brown's brick blushes and bronzers. It is really great. Trust me.

Now I recommend all makeup enthusiasts and artists to swatch a product twice if you are in the store. I say twice because you have to take a tissue to rub off everyone's fingerprint then you swatch it onto your skin first without a primer and then again with a primer. Primers are always available to test out as well.

Application Method
  1. Prep face by applying base aka moisturizer, primer and foundation
  2. *Optional: Contour face with color 2 shades. Use darker shade on hairline, chin and bridge of nose. Use lighter shade under eyes and down the the bridge of the nose
  3. Apply bronzer into hollows of cheekbones brushing upward slightly blending into cheeks and around hairline
  4. Apply a peach or shallow pink blush to apples of cheek blending up and outward
  5. Apply NYX Cosmetics Illuminator to the highest part of cheekbones, bridge of nose, forehead and cupid's bow.
  6. *Optional: Apply eye makeup and lashes
  7. Mist face with makeup setting spray and look is complete

As I said, this is a great product and I am highly allergic to the majority of NYX products.

Obsession Fifty Shades of Grey

The movie and the books are completely taking over my life right now and the colors within the movie has inspired me more to create a "50 Shades of Grey Stripes Pedicure" using Scratch of Sweden nail polish colors.

Application Method

  1. Prep nails and feet by cleaning underneath the nail, exfoliate, rinse and apply a moisturizer
  2. Apply "Stuck On You" base/top coat
  3. Apply 2 coats of "Just Mud" gray tone color
  4. Apply 1 thin coat of "French Natural White" on top of "Just Mud"
  5. Apply 3 dots of "French Hyper White" on the large toe and apply one dot on all the others
  6. With a small, thin brush or an old liquid eyeliner brush start to create stripes with the dots you created
  7. Let it sit for 3 minutes and then create more thin stripes using "Just Mud"
  8. Let sit for 3 minutes and then apply one more coat of thin stripes using "French Natural White"
  9. Let sit for 5 minutes
  10. Apply "Fast Dry Top Coat" and let it sit for 5 minutes

Confessions... My Last Dime

May 14, 2015

I love makeup but I'll never spend my last dime on it. There are so many things that I love about makeup. There is the rush that I feel when I see that one item from MAC, Sephora, Ulta or even The Balm. I usually stare at it for a few minutes, walk away (or close the web browser) and I look once again only to decide if I should purchase it or not.

My mind usually works like this: How can I use this? Where will I wear it? Who will notice my new foundation, my glow, or better yet who will give me a genuine complement? Where exactly will I wear all this makeup that I hoard? Those are the questions I always ask myself. Everyday I get all dressed up. I make myself pretty and apply my makeup usually within 15 minutes or less. I try to perfect every look but it always comes out less than perfect. And once I arrive to work and complete my 8 hours of making people beautiful while stroking their ego all in return for a gratuity totaling a few gallons of gas, I walk out mentally drained and I always think just maybe, maybe that $38 bronzer I found at MAC, will make me feel a little better. Just a little, but priorities first, bills first. I won't spend my last dime on makeup but I will hoard it when I have a few extra dimes to spare. I'll see you soon MAC, you biche you.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Artist Palette Smells Delicious

May 03, 2015

I'm so obsessed with my Anastasia of Beverly Hills "Artist Palette" BUT not because of the eyeshadows themselves. It is because of the smell. OMG! OMG! OMG! They smell so good. The 2 other palettes I have from them are great and so pigmented and do not have this buttery and addicting smell but unfortunately this one lacks a few key elements that I feel made them standout even more for brow grooming cosmetics.

This time around I feel that the eyeshadows are not as pigmented as the "Lavish and Catwalk" palettes. As usual they were packaged perfectly. The box design was the same design as the exterior of the palette. The mirror was actually the bomb dot com unlike the "Catwalk" palette. That mirror went wrong somewhere. Now the names did match their colors or more like the names were to match how every girl/guy would like to feel such as "Baby, I'm A Star" or "Orange You Fancy" and "Phresh". Very catchy right! I love it but that's about all the excitement I felt unfortunately. I was so disappointed because the focus should have continued to be on the product itself.

Yes it smells so good however there was more fallout than product on my brush when I went to pick up a color. I'd attempt to apply it but it just didn't grasp onto my (NYX stick in "Milk") primer base as much as I'd like. I'm not into product bashing because I know from firsthand experience how long it takes to create a product, let alone to market a product, but I just was not that impressed when creating my "In A Rush" look. Honestly I had to pack on "Phresh" 4x's because it just wouldn't stick. But yes baby, I do feel like a star when I am (attempting) wearing Anastasia of Beverly Hills eye cosmetics despite having to reapply colors every few minutes.

This product wasn't pricey but it won't be going to waste. I'll have to put it on hiatus until I can find a primer that will make me love it for more than the smell. Oh well. "Quality over quantity. Fuck it. I'll try both." #beautybiche
