Is The Road To Perfection Going Too Far?

August 30, 2018
Is the road to perfection going too far? It's no secret that these days we are on a mission to be perfect. So perfect that we as human beings will do any and everything to nip and tuck, conceal and maximize any imperfection that only we see. Sometimes I wonder though, when is it enough? Introducing Camouflage.

Camouflage Procedure
Credit: Rodolpho Torres Instagram
Camouflage is a procedure that I stumbled upon today on my LinkedIn feed. One of my connections posted a video of a guy getting his dark under eyes colored in with a flesh colored ink by whom I thought was a surgeon. Turns out he is not a surgeon. He is Portuguese tattoo artist Rodolpho Torres who created this technique after spending 10 years specializing in these types of cosmetic procedures on women. The thing that really caught my interest was that it was a guy seeking this form of perfection. Guys are pretty much into any and everything that women are currently so I should not have been surprised!

Take a look at these video clips from Rodolpho Torres' Instagram page.

After viewing this video I wanted to know more so I did a quick search and hopefully this will answer a few of your questions.

What Is The Proper Term For This
"Camouflage", due to Torres using a flesh colored ink that is meant to blend into the skin.

What Areas of the Body Are Camouflaged Performed On
Under eye area, on top of the brows and places where stretch marks occur.

How Much Does It Cost
The price is not listed on RodolphoTorres.com however according to the website budgets, scheduling and evaluations are done through WhatsApp

Where is Rodolpho Located
He is based in South America. The website is in Portuguese and I am assuming that he is Brazilian.

Side Note. Under eye darkness can be due to a number of things. There is genetics, bruised skin, medication reactions, the lack of blood flowing to that area and also straining the eyes. Then let's touch upon stretch marks. Stretch marks happen when gaining and losing weight. To some it is a proud sign, to others it is a flaw that they would rather not see. Not all people get stretch marks but if you happen to see the vertical lines where the skin has been pulled you now know that you have an option to "Camouflage" them.

My thoughts on this procedure is I want to see more. Show me a week by week updates using pictures or a video. By doing this viewers such as myself will know if this fades and how quickly it fades. I also want to know what the pain level is from the day of the procedure until a week afterwards. Knowing what to expect is crucial. Don't forget to include the horror stories. People want to know the good, bad and the ugly. As a tattoo enthusiast and someone who knows how the colors fade, I want to see all of this before making a final decision.

Restaurant Review: Margaritaville's JWB Prime Steak & Seafood

This weekend I was lucky and so happy to visit Fort Lauderdale, Florida (goodness, I really miss living in Florida [at times] ). During the trip, we took another mini road trip to Hollywood's North Beach to explore the beach, the sand and to enjoy what had become sunny weather after a stormy afternoon. Admiring the scene of tourists riding bikes, new and restored hotels along with amazing ocean front properties our laughter, conversation, my window shopping and weak bladder lead to a quick stop to the restrooms of coincidentally the Margaritaville Beach Resort & Hotel. Greeted with excellent hospitality, a view of the chefs cooking, we sat down silently anxious to discover what we were in for.

What's was on the menu that encouraged me to blog about this dish? Well, hello, look at it.
red snapper risotto

Me being me I wanted to be the opposite with my food selection that evening. I knew I wanted seafood and vegetables however there was so much to choose from I didn't want to take too much time. Quickly skimming through the menu, I found what I wanted. The Fresh Catch of the Day. It was the most obvious selection but I needed more details about the dish. Moments later the server came to our table and explained what exactly it included... red snapper, peas and carrots. Correcting herself she enunciated that it was a fillet of fresh red snapper pan grilled and sauteed in a olive oil and lemon blend served on top of a bed of peas and carrots creamy risotto. Now that sounded awesome!

Receiving the dish and seeing how beautifully it was placed together, I was beyond happy to consume all of it.

Confessions... Standing In My Own Way

August 23, 2018
I realized the other day or should I say a few weeks ago that I am standing in my own way. More like my attitude and how I think others think of me is how I am standing in my own way.

There are multiple things on my career bucket list that I have been knocking off one by one and then there are the others that I have yet to do. One of the things on the list that I keep accomplishing is going to fashion shows. Rather it be sponsoring designers with manicures thanks to being the Content Strategist for Scratch of Sweden USA, networking with fashion designers as well as enjoying the actual fashion. I've participated in the fashion shows for multiple designers during 2016 The Brave Wings Fashion Show in Phoenix, Arizona, sponsored designers for 2018 Chicago Fashion Week and sponsoring 2 designers for the upcoming September 2018 Milwaukee Fashion Week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. But yes, here is how I have been standing in my own way.
milwaukee fashion week

The Brave Wings Fashion Show 2016
Reflecting back to my first go around at a fashion show which was the 2016 Brave Wings Fashion Show in Phoenix, Arizona. My younger cousin Jenesis Laforcarde who is the co-founder of The Braze Wings Fashion Show was how I got to be involved thanks to a push from Marie, my 2nd cousin who owns Scratch of Sweden and a chain of emails I sent Jenesis. She super busy when I arrived straight from the airport but super helpful. Before I had gotten there she had already arranged for the instructor and the students of the nail technician program at the cosmetology school to assist me with the manicures. I was beyond happy for that because I wasn't sure how I was going to paint the nails of 20+ models.
How I stood in my own way. At the end of the fashion show I stupidly declined the invitation to attend the after party. I was irritated with the person who had flown to Phoenix with me for not bringing me food I had requested, overwhelmed and overheated, felt I didn't look pretty enough, didn't bring a change of clothes and was so hungry. I know, I know. Plenty of excuses right. This right here was a missed opportunity for me not only to network but to get to know my cousin a lot more (since it was my first time actually meeting her). Meet new people, get content for my blog and also get to meet 2 of my Newbies Who Blog group members. Silly me. I'd never decline an opportunity like that again. Next up, Chicago Fashion Week.

Chicago Fashion Week 2018
My second time around to attend a fashion show was this year in April. I arranged for Scratch of Sweden to sponson designers and their staff at the First Trans Media Fashion Show which as the last show of Chicago Fashion Week. What I learned from the first fashion show was to socialize, smile and do not let anything or anyone stress me out. On the day of the event the owner of the company (who fly in from Sweden) had insisted that we bring nail polish to sell which was a no-no because we didn't pay for a vendor spot. Her persistence was on notice but she later noticed that this was the opportunity to meet new people, network and a prime opportunity for us as a brand to enter a new market. I have to say though, working with her was pretty amazing. I see how passionate she is and I can feel it in everything that she does.
How I stood in my own way. Chicago is less than 1-1/2 hours away from my home. I should have made myself more available to attend and volunteer at more shows. As someone who writes about beauty, loves to do makeup, hair and also has a thing for fashion, I really had no excuse. Although I kind of did because I work 2 jobs. The one thing I did do different this time around was talk with the other volunteers who were makeup artists, photographers, hairstylists and also made sure that I introduced myself to everyone. Towards the end of the show I made sure I did my rounds and exchanged social media handles so that was a score:-) We followed one another but I still have to do this time around!

Lessons Learned and Applied
How I learned not to stand in my own way. The first 2 fashion shows were a run through for me. I know know that I need to look my best, feel my best and also bring my best. Feeling like I am not pretty enough or dressed up enough is no excuse. I should always have a change of clothes and a change of attitude when going to these events. I am not a burden, I am a asset because I want to be there and they want me along with the products to be there. To practice what I am preaching I have the next fashion show booked a few weeks from now.
Like I did before I sent emails to the founders of Milwaukee Fashion Week and locked September 14th and 15th to both work and attend the event. I on behalf of Scratch of Sweden will be painting the nails of the models for 2 designers. I will smile until my cheeks hurt, smize and laugh until my I create laugh lines, network until no one is left to speak to and attend after parties like I don't have a bed time. There will be no repeats. There will be no mentally doubting my presence. There will only be a positive and memorable career goal checked off my bucket list. You will see.
I've also lined up one more event in 2019 that is going to be even bigger than the fashion shows in Chicago, Phoenix and Milwaukee. I am so excited and cannot wait to share more about but I will keep it silent for now.

Thank you for reading.

Focal Point GlowLighter. Your Heaven Sent GlowUp by Coloured Raine

August 22, 2018
Coloured Raine GlowLighter. Words cannot describe Focal Point GlowLighter. This is perfect combination of a highlighter, bronzer and illuminator. For those of you who are unfamiliar with my current process of investing in cosmetics from Minority Owned Cosmetic Brands hence launching The BICHÉ “The Beauties In Color Here Everyday,” then welcome. One of my first and many upcoming purchases was from Coloured Rain inside of Riley Rose, which is the accessory/cosmetic store from the developers of Forever21. If you have one in your city then go to it. Moving on to my obsession.

Obsessed: Coloured Raine Focal Point GlowLighter in Your Treat $25 8grams (0.28oz)
highlighter, beauty reviews, makeup reviews, coloured raine

Words cannot describe how obsessed I am in with this Focal Point GlowLighter. This glowlighter is the perfect combination of a highlighter, bronzer and illuminator. All those terms can be interchangeable. If you do not know the differences the I will explain the difference in just a moment.

First Impression
The packaging in itself is sleek and beautiful. It's a white hard plastic compact with a mirror. When you push to open the compact you will see a full pan of goodness that screams, "touch me and put your glow on 20". I swear it looks so pretty that you do not want to touch it at all but when you do you'll notice how smooth and buttery it feels. The buttery formula feels very much like the Anastasia Beverly Hills highlighters in the Ultimate Glow Kit. However the appearance on the skin is just as buttery as the touch with very small specks of shimmer. Just look at these swatches from their website.

Application Method
For an amazing glow up apply this glowlighter with a fan brush. I suggest using a fan brush that isn't as dense because then it will pick up a lot more product than you expected. I use my $4 fan brush by e.l.f. that I've had for years.
The trick to highlighting is to rub the tip of the bristles or either lay the brush flat onto the product and rub it product onto the brush.
After you have done that quickly swipe back and forth on the parts you want to draw attention to. Most people including myself like to highlight on the ball of the nose, above the cupid's bow, on the higher points of my cheeks and cheekbones and by my temples. The temples is optional since it totally maximizes the glow and is more of an editorial look.

Highlighter / Bronzer / Illuminator
I mention earlier that this can be used as a highlighter, bronzer or illuminator. Here are the differences according to me.

Highlighter
Giving the effect of a glow to specific areas of the skin in particular the face.

Bronzer
Adding a slightly darker color to the face.

Illuminator
Scrapping a small amount of product to create a powder and mix with either foundation and /or primer to create an illuminating glow.

This glowlighter has a golden tint and I am pretty light-skinned with both yellow and red undertones, When I use it as a bronzer I place it directly on the apples of my cheek and under my cheekbone. To make it look even more defined I used a darker powder foundation color to blend into the glowlighter. It really chisels out the cheekbones and adds more shape to the face. I'll share my method later today on my Facebook and Instagram so make sure you are following me. FOLLOW ME NOW;-)

Overall Impressions
There is nothing negative that I can say about this product. It's some good stuff. Go get one!

Lancome Tonique Confort Facial Toner. Oooo La La

August 15, 2018
Obsessed: Lancome Tonique Confort Facial Toner 13.5fl oz $46
3 words. I Love It. First off, I received this product along with a full size Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Day Cream and one of the L'Absolu Lacquer - Long Wear Lip Gloss in Fuchsia from Influenster. The lip gloss (I'll review that too) I am equally obsessed with but this tonique is pretty much amazing.

Tonique Confort

First Impression
The look and the shape of this bottle is pretty much like the other toners and the makeup remover that Lancome offers. It is an easy to grip bottle with a screw off top. When you remove the top there is a small opening so you can dispense a small amount of the product carefully without pouring out too much.

The Tonique Confort has the slight pinkish tint due to the rose reference. When you pour a small amount into the palms of your hand, it is thin like water, yet a creamy consistency that simply soaks into your skin. I love it. According to their website the ingredients include honey, hydrogenated castor oil and sweet almond protein. Let's quickly talk about the benefits of those 3 key ingredients.

Honey is known so have smoothing properties as well as being a natural antibacterial agent. Did you know that it is also known to slow down aging?
Hydrogenated Castor Oil has anti inflammatory properties that calm and soothe sensitive skin. Due the ricinoleic acid, a potent fatty acid that helps protect the skin again invading bacteria.
Sweet Almond Protein has vitamin E, vitamin A, protein, potassium and more. The vitamin E will protect your skin from UV radiation damage and helps the skin appear free of fine lines aka aging lines.
Now I understand why Lancome included it. All  of these ingredients are skin protecting, smoothing and anti-aging. I really do LOVE this toner.

Application Method
After I remove my makeup I cleanse my face with one of my facial cleansers. On the days that I wear a lot of makeup I use both a cleansing bar and The Body Shop's Tea Tree Facial Cleanser to remove left over makeup and oil that is sitting on the surface. Rinsing my face with cool water I then pat it dry slightly. Next I pour a dime size amount of Tonique Confort into my hands and press it gently onto my face and neck. I then massage it avoiding the eyes due to the fragrance that is added which can cause a possible reaction.

Overall Impressions
It's the perfect combination of a toner and a really thin moisturizer. I really do love this product. Some days I am afraid to use it because I do not want to see it all gone. If you guys and girls have not picked you up a bottle yet, then make sure you do. Granted mine was au gratis but there is smaller bottle for $26 OR Ulta Beauty offers a collection $26 The Bienfait Multi-Vital Starter Kit.

The kit includes Creme-Mousse Confort, Tonique Confort, Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Day Cream and the Bienfait Multi-Vital Night Creme. That's a pretty awesome deal!

Side Note. One of the things that I have been loving so much lately is being an Beauty Influencer on the website Influenster.com. This website allows people to become an influencer in their chosen niche rather it be beauty, food, fashion, travel, tech, pets and so forth. It's pretty amazing because you get to try out all of these products that are about to launch that no one has FOR FREE. Click Here To Join!

BeautiFULL Food: Salsa Lime Shrimp Tacos

August 14, 2018
Salsa Lime Shrimp Tacos
Serves 2. Double recipe for large freeloader portions.
Have you ever sat at home and realized that you need to make lunch and you don’t really have much in the fridge or freezer? But then you’re brain starts going into creative mode and you remember that you have the ingredients to make sauteed shrimp tacos.

Ingredients
½ lb fresh, tail on shrimp
½ tbsp of fresh or dried cilantro
½ cup of red onion
4 tbsp of mild tomato based salsa
1 garlic clove chopped
½ tbsp of salt/pepper blend
1 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tbsp vegetable or olive oil
8 corn tortillas
½ package of queso fresco
1 whole lime cut into ⅛ pieces
Optional: Avocado slices, fresh guacamole or avocado spread. Recipes coming soon!
Serves 2. Double recipe for large freeloader portions.

Directions
In a medium sized bowl clean, remove veins and take off tails off of shrimp. Add garlic, squeeze 4 of the 8 sliced pieces of lime, red onion, salt/pepper blend, salsa, cayenne pepper, cilantro, 4 tbsps of mild salsa and vegetable oil. Trust and believe that when I say this WILL make a great marinade. Cover and refrigerate for an hour or 2.

On a grill pan turn heat to medium to hot (7-8 setting). To check the temperature spritz water on the grill pan. If it sizzles and evaporates spray on a light coat of oil olive and add tortillas. Heat both sides to a light golden shade. Remove and sit aside on a wood cutting board.

Now that the grill pan has been used and left with a bit for flavor, use metal tongs or large metal fork to add shrimp to grill pain. Grill on all sides until it doesn’t look dead anymore but pink and, plump and flavorful. Remove all shrimp and turn off heat. Sit aside on a plate so the juices can settle and they.

On a plate or a taco holder add how many tacos you plan to consume then begin layering. Start with avocado, avocado spread or guacamole (recipes coming soon), graded queso fresco, shrimp, spoonful of salsa, mas aka more queso fresco, squeeze the juice from one of the sliced limes. Capture the moment with a photo. Now Eat your BeautiFULL Food.

Erno Laszlo "Firmarine Lift Essence Lotion

August 06, 2018
Semi-Obsessed: Erno Laszlo "Firmarine Lift Essence Lotion" $68
I received this product au gratis thanks to being a Beauty Influencer on Influenster. I really like the overall concept of this face lotion or should I say gel considering it's a price point that I currently cannot afford. However you got a ton of product in which I obsessed about because a little goes a long way.

erno laszlo
Firmarine Life Essence Lotion

First Impressions
When I first received the package from the Influenster, I was super excited to open it. Before even opening the actual product I read the back of the product box and went on to the Erno Laszlo website to know exactly what I was getting myself into. According to the website: This watery gel-like essence tones, hydrates, and revitalizes the skin. With encapsulated collagen, it boosts skin renewal by penetrating skin cells for long-acting lifting and protects the skin from free radical damage. Spirulina Maxima-a high powered algae extract that boosts skin renewal-is both water-activated and "nano-encapsulate" in this formula.
Now that is what I am here for. I'm 35 years old and my skin is aging especially the face and neck, anything that can assist me with keeping it hydrated and toned I am all for. Hurriedly removing the lotion from the box I was super excited to smell it and apply it. I pumped a small amount onto my finger and turned my nose up to the minty scent. It was tipping the scale of masculine which I was very surprised about considering the product is targeted towards women but I was down to try it anyways.

Application Method
The way I like to apply the product is after I apply a face toner. The face toner is the second step after cleansing that brings the skin back down to it's normal ph balance all the while removing any left over makeup or oil that may be sitting on your skin. Apply a nickel size amount of the gel essence, I massage it into the skin and it dries like a creamy lotion but sinks into the skin and it also cools it too on hot summer days.

Overall Impressions
I do like the product however because it doesn't contain any SPF, I cannot use it on the days that I am going outside. If I am having a day in or doing my skincare regimen before bed, then I can use this Firmarine Lift Essence Lotion for my last step.
