Black Owned Makeup Brands You Need To Try

Black-owned makeup brands are on the rise more than before in 2019. 3 of them are on my everyday makeup routine thanks to their never-ending ability to create for women of color. Not every product that I try will be a hit but I want to share with you a few that I like and dislike. Be aware though, my dislikes have nothing to do with the brand, it's just what I am looking for.

Obsessed: Makeup For Melanin Girls $17
makeup for melanin girls, liquid lipstick, beauty reviews, makeup reviews

Colors Purchased: Brown Shuga and Dutty Wine
These colors are no longer offered and the packaging has changed and I haven't ordered more yet. This is a thin formula that is very much pigmented. When I apply it I use a lip balm to make sure that my lips are thoroughly moisturized underneath. The formula does dry down to a matte finish which is exactly what I like. Once it dries down on the lips, the color doesn't transfer onto clothes or drinking cups. Now if I ate some food that had some grease then it would come off but other than that it lasts very long. Almost forgot to mention that you can actually add more product on top of your previous application and it will not peel or crust off.
I would purchase another one (if there is a sale).

Not Obsessed: Coloured Raine $17
coloured raine, liquid lipstick, black-owned makeup brand
Credit: Coloured Raine

Colors Purchased: Debut and Brown Sugar. These colors are no longer offered.
This formula is creamy with a medium consistency. When I first apply the lipstick it looks true to the color you see in the packaging however after about 45 minutes the color starts to fade as it dries down. If you are eating or drinking anything, it will come off. The good thing is you can add another layer of product on top of the first and it will not peel or look crinkly. But unfortunately that is a good thing. But hey, not every formula can be perfect so maybe I will give it a swatch trial the next time I am in Riley Rose.

Obsessed: Beauty Bakerie "Donut Worry, Be Happy Set" of Lip Whips $30
beauty bakerie, lip whips, liquid lipstick, beauty reviews, makeup reviews

Colors Included: Donut Quit: Pinkish Nude, Donut Cry: Nude and Donut Wine: Cool Berry

When I tell you that I am obsessed, I am totally OBSESSED. I was waiting for the perfect opportunity for me to get the most amount of new products at a discounted price and I did.
First off, these matte finish lip whips cost $20 each so this is a steal. Second off, after I ordered these online I went into Riley Rose and swatched them because I have never tried them before. They were amazing and the color lasted for hours and hours. I tried washing my wrists and it wouldn't come off unless I used coconut oil (my makeup remover). Now that I have them in possession I want more. The formula is a matte finish, the color is bright and vibrant and the products does not transfer onto drinking cups or my clothes and I can eat food without retouching it. It also lasts for hours and hours.
I will definitely purchase more.
